History & Culture

Xuzhou is one of the oldest cities in China, with a civilization history of more than 5000 years. More than 3,000 years ago, Xuzhou was one of the nine states in China.

As a city with Han culture, Xuzhou was the home of Liu Bang, the first emperor of the Western Han Dynasty (256-195 BC). The Han Dynasty was divided into two periods, the Eastern Han Dynasty and the Western Han Dynasty (206-189 A.D.), which lasted more than 400 years. During this period, the local kings of Xuzhou left a large number of historical heritages, including clay sculptures, reliefs and tombs of the Han Dynasty, known as the three wonders of the Han Dynasty. They are the representatives of Chinese Han culture.
